Wheel Bearing And Wheel Hub: Installation
- Clean the components.
- Using the special tools, install the wheel bearing.
- Install the circlip.
- Install the brake disc dust shield.
- Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (7 lb.ft).
- Clean the backing plate and apply grease to the brake shoe contacts.
- Clean the adjuster and set it to its minimum extension.
- Install the secondary brake shoe.
- Connect the parking brake cable retaining spring to the brake shoe lever, making sure the spring is not twisted.
- Install the hold-down spring and retaining pin.
- Install the primary brake shoe.
- Install the spreader plate and the spring.
- Install the return spring.
- Install the hold-down spring and retaining pin.
- Install the return spring.
- Install the brake shoe adjuster.
- Using the special tools, install the drive flange.
- Install the wheel knuckle. See WHEEL KNUCKLE .
CAUTION:
Make sure that the bearing seal is not damaged when installing the circlip.
WARNING:
Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials can be harmful if inhaled.
