If a new engine is to be installed, remove the intake manifold to access the top transmission retaining bolts.

- Using the approved diagnostic equipment, clear the powertrain control module (PCM) adaptions.
NOTE:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
CAUTION:
Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.

Fluid loss is unavoidable, use absorbent cloth or a container to collect the fluid.

Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
CAUTION:
Always protect the cooling pack elements to prevent accidental damage.
