Rear CROSSMEMBER: Removal

NOTE: Some illustrations may show the body removed for clarity.
    WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect battery ground cable. Refer to Specifications information.
  3. Disconnect the battery positive cable.
  4. Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to Rear Bumper Cover information.
  5. Remove the spare wheel and tire.
  6. NOTE: If equipped.
    NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  7. Remove both rear body mount dampers.

  9. Remove both rear body mass dampers.

  10. NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  11. Remove the rear bumper cover lower brackets.
    • Remove the 2 scrivets.

  12. Remove the rear bumper foam pads.

  13. NOTE: Up to the end of 06MY.
    NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  14. Remove the bracket.
    • Remove the 2 nuts.

  15. NOTE: Up to the end of 06MY.
    NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  16. Remove the bracket.
    • Remove the bolt.

  17. NOTE: 07MY onwards.
    NOTE: Vehicles built from 07MY onwards have welded rear body mass damper brackets, these must be removed and replaced with the bolt-on style brackets.
    NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  18. Using suitable tools, remove and discard the 4 rear body mass damper brackets.

    - Mig weld. (R/H is symmetrically opposite to L/H).
