Concern

Land Rover and many other Motor Manufactures currently recommend the use of the refrigerant R-134a for use in its Air Conditioning Systems. It has been brought to Land Rovers attention that R-134a has been the subject of counterfeiting by unscrupulous suppliers who pass off other products (R-40) for R-134a to unsuspecting users.

CONTENT

These other counterfeit products can be extremely toxic, flammable and highly reactive when exposed to Aluminium.

Action

Land Rovers production vehicles are not at risk as we source our refrigerant from a reliable source. This Bulletin has been issued to warn our Global Land Rover Dealer Network to be cautious when sourcing Air Conditioning Refrigerant R-134a for Aftermarket use in the workshop and to ensure that it is bought from a reputable source.
