ISSUE

Land Rover has received a number of reports where the headphones are found not to be operating correctly at Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI).

CAUSE

Under analysis.

ACTION

If a concern is suspected with the headphones, please follow the steps below:

Content

  1. Press the power button (right side of headphone) check that the LED is illuminated (LED may be red or amber depending on the headset supplied) if not go to step 2. If the LED is flashing go to step 3. If the LED is permanently illuminated go to step 4.
  2. If the LED is not illuminated, remove the black screw and cover from the LHS headphone to check that 2x AAA batteries are fitted and in the correct position/polarity, if not fit batteries/reposition if necessary/check battery voltage and replace if necessary. If the LED still does not illuminate replace the headphones affected.
  3. If the LED is flashing this indicates the headphones are waiting for a signal from the headphones transmitter (Infrared emitter) located in the overhead console. Select the following buttons on the Touch Screen Display (TSD) Audio video/rear media or dual view/left or right/system/listen/radio and visually check for a red glow from the Infrared emitter LEDs, if not continue with diagnosis of the audio system with reference to TOPIx and Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD). If a red glow is visible and the headphones are being used in the vehicle with direct line of sight to the Infrared emitter, go to next step.
  4. If the LED is permanently illuminated operate the volume control (right side of headphone, outer ring), if the volume control is normal and sound evident in both ear pieces, no further action required. If there is no audio from either ear piece go to next step. If there is audio from only one ear piece, replace the headphones affected.
  5. Check the channel button operation (right side of headphone centre cap with vehicle logo). Press the channel button up to 3 times until audio is evident. Note; a beep sound may be heard each time the button is pressed. If audio is evident, no further action required as this is normal operation when selecting the appropriate passenger compartment zone. If there is no audio evident replace the headphones affected.
NOTE: If the concern is identified on a vehicle based in the United Kingdom market, please submit an ePQR prior to carrying out diagnosis as Engineering would like to visit the vehicle to assist with diagnosis. If the customer is not prepared to wait for an extended period of time to allow for an Engineering visit, then please continue with diagnosis and rectification. The Topix Information and Entertainment diagnostic section will be updated shortly with this information.
NOTE: Dual view touch screen and Rear Seat Entertainment are supplied with 3 sets of headphones.
Rear Seat Entertainment only are supplied with 2 sets of headphones
