Symptom (499000 Basic Engine)
ISSUE
It may be noticed that on replacement engines, cylinder heads and various other parts the bolt holes are not threaded.
CAUSE
This is by design and is not a defect or unfinished part. This is known as TAPTITE fastener technology and provides superior clamping and holding over conventional threaded bolt holes.
ACTION
Do not attempt to tap and thread these holes!
Simply install the bolts into their respective holes. They will cut their own threads during installation just tighten them to specification.
