ISSUE

A customer may report brake squeal from the front or rear of the vehicle since the routine replacement of the brake pads. Vehicles with standard brakes only.

CAUSE

Brake compressibility of the pad, whilst within specification, may be slightly incompatible with the driving style and vehicle usage patterns of a small number of customers. Whiltst there is no impact on the efficiency of the braking system, in some circumstances this may lead to noise becoming apparent.

ACTION

Upon customer complaint, where no outstanding Technical Service Bulletins are applicable and where the brake pad part numbers listed below have been used, please replace the brake pads and if possible ensure the new brake pad packing date code is later than those listed.

The brake pad packing date code can be found on the brake pad box. An example of the date code can be found on the attached document. Any brake pad sets prior to the date codes listed below should be used for general service replacements as the concern has only affected a small number of brake pads.

Nb2 (23/02/2012) -LR019627 - Rear brake pads. Discovery 3/LR3 2005 to 2009. Discovery 4/LR4 2010 onwards. Range Rover 2002 to 2009. Range Rover Sport all model years.
