CONDITION SUMMARY

Situation:  The door mirror may 'judder' during powerfold (manual or automatic) operation and/or may be loose or vibrates.

Cause:  This may be caused by a tolerance stack-up between the door mirror and the door and/or the retaining screws may be loose/under torqued.

Action:  Should a customer express this concern, follow the appropriate Service Instruction [A or B] outlined below.

SERVICE INSTUCTION 'A' - 'Judder' Concern Only

LR3 (L319), LR4 (L319), Range Rover Sport (L320) vehicles only 

NOTE: Service Instruction 'A' to be performed for a 'judder' during powerfold operation concern only.
CAUTION: make sure no damage is caused to the powerfold door mirror.
CAUTION: do not apply any form of external lubrication, as this will have no effect to the internals of the mechanism and may cause damage.
  1. Manually move the powerfold door mirror forwards and backwards 20 times, then return the powerfold door mirror to the central position.

    NOTE: do not disconnect the powerfold door mirror - trim electrical connector.
  2. Release the powerfold door mirror - interior trim.

    CAUTION: take care not to damage the paint on the vehicle.
    NOTE: do not disconnect the powerfold door mirror electrical connector.
  3. Release the powerfold door mirror.

  4. Install the washers to the powerfold door mirror lower retaining bolts only.

  5. Install the powerfold door mirror.
    • Torque: 6 Nm

  6. Check the operation of the powerfold door mirror.
  7. Install the powerfold door mirror - interior trim.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION 'B' - LOOSE/VIBRATION CONCERN ONLY

Vehicles with removable powerfold mirror covers. 

NOTE: Service Instruction B' to be performed for a loose/vibration concern only.
NOTE: right-hand side shown; left-hand side similar
  1. Remove the door mirror cover.

    NOTE: if the screws are loose the mirror head will be loose or vibrate.
  2. Tighten the powerfold door mirror head screws.
    • Torque: 2 Nm

  3. Check the operation of the powerfold door mirror.
  4. Install the powerfold door mirror cover.
