CONDITION SUMMARY
Situation: The tow hitch receiver may not latch in the vehicle housing/rear crossmember.
Cause: This may be caused by tow hitch receiver manufacturing tolerances combined with excessive paint build-up on the rear crossmember. A new tow hitch receiver may be within tolerance specification; however, in certain circumstances a new tow hitch receiver fitted to a vehicle may be difficult to install.
Action: In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the REPAIR PROCEDURE outlined below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Check the part number on the locking pin and tow hitch receiver. The affected part numbers are listed below:

NOTE: Note the red signal ring.
Check to see if the tow hitch receiver latches on the vehicle correctly:.
- Remove the tow hitch receiver.
- Insert the tow hitch receiver in the vehicle housing three (3) times.
- If the tow hitch receiver latches, return the vehicle to the customer.
- If the tow hitch receiver does not latch, continue to step 5.
- Using a suitable file and locally-sourced sandpaper (150 - 240 grit), fold the sandpaper around the file.
- With the sandpaper wrapped around the file, do three gentle strokes per leeway.
- Check to see if the tow hitch receiver latches on the vehicle correctly, can be locked, and the key can be removed.
