ISSUE

A number of instances have been reported where a loss of pressure in tyres has been observed with associated TPMS warning messages. Customers and retailers have been unable to re-inflate and maintain Service pressures due to functional failure of the TPMS valves.

Issue may affect 15MY and 16MY Range Rover Evoques and Discovery Sport vehicles.

CAUSE

Retailer technicians have observed TPMS valves where there is evidence of air loss or leakage from the base of the valve stem.

ACTION

Should a technician identify a TPMS valve to be leaking from the base of the stem (via water bath or similar test method), they are requested to perform the following steps:

  1. tighten nut at the base of the stem to 8Nm +/-1. Identify and document any rotation observed
  2. confirm if leak still present via previous test method
  3. should leak still be present, disassemble the TPMS valve taking care to observe any cuts, damage or debris within the valve stem, seal and nut or on either side of the wheel interface (nut side and seal side)
  4. replace TPMS valve stem assembly using service kit LR043162 (use with existing TPMS sensor)
  5. report any findings from steps 1) to 5) via an EPQR and include any associated data and photographs.

Please retain replaced parts in accordance with Warranty Compliance guidelines as JLR may request to retrieve them for further analysis.
