SERVICE INSTRUCTION A
Service Instruction 'A' - LR4 (L319) and Range Rover Sport (L320) only.
- Using a digital multi-meter, check the continuity of the fused harness.
- If 'open circuit', continue to the next step.
- If not 'open circuit', refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code help text in TOPIx.
- Remove the battery (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 414-01).
- Locate the Battery Monitoring System (BMS) fused harness and transit relay wiring and disconnect from the battery positive connection.
- At the end of the harness conduit, cut all three wires and remove the BMS fused harness and transit relay wiring from the vehicle.
- Insulate the two transit relay wires and secure to main harness.
- Separate the wiring and the harness conduit.
- Install the new BMS fused harness into the harness conduit.
- Using the harness repair kit, create a spliced joint between the fused repair harness wire and the vehicle wiring harness (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 418-02).
- Remove the retaining bolt and position the Engine Junction Box (EJB) to the side.
- Locate the retaining clips on the side of the EJB.
- Install the BMS fused harness into the retaining clips on the EJB.
- Install the EJB:
- Make sure the battery vent pipe is located correctly into the retaining clips on the EJB.
- Install the battery (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 414-01).
- Install the BMS fused harness to the positive battery connection.
- Start the engine and check for correct battery charge warning lamp operation.
SERVICE INSTRUCTION B
Service Instruction 'B' - Range Rover (L322) only.
- Using a digital multi-meter, check the continuity of the fused harness.
- If 'open circuit', continue to the next step.
- If not 'open circuit', refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code help text in TOPIx.
- Locate the Battery Monitoring System (BMS) fused harness and remove from the battery positive connection.
- Remove the battery (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 414-01).
- Separate the BMS fused harness from the transit relay wiring and secure the transit relay wiring to the main wiring harness.
- Remove the insulation from the wiring harness; measure 30mm from the base of wiring junction and cut and remove the original BMS fused harness.
- Using the harness repair kit, create a spliced joint between the fused repair harness wire and the vehicle wiring harness (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 418-02).
- Insulate the wiring harness.
- Install the battery (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 414-01).CAUTION: Make sure that the fused harness is routed in a suitable manner and is not trapped by any components.
