Dear Colleagues

A concern has been identified on certain Land Rover Discovery 4/LR4 2012 and 2013 Model Year vehicles where the primer used to bond the panoramic roof glass to the panoramic roof assembly may not have been to the correct specification.

Customers have reported the panoramic roof assembly was either noisy, loose, leaking water into the vehicle or, in one case, had detached from the vehicle while the vehicle was in motion. Where the panoramic roof glass panel detaches from the vehicle, it may collide with other vehicles on the road or compel other road users to take evasive action. This could increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

Action to be taken

Jaguar Land Rover Limited has taken the decision to recall affected vehicles to remove the panoramic roof panel, clean off any adhesive and primer and refit it.

UK

Jaguar Land Rover Limited will be writing directly to customers with vehicles affected by this Recall requesting them to contact their preferred Authorised Repairer as soon as possible to arrange for the rework action to be carried out at the earliest opportunity. A copy of the customer letter is attached.

ROW

You are required to contact owners of affected vehicles, following procedures that are appropriate to your market and as required by local legislation; requesting that the owner contact their nearest authorised repairer, as soon as possible, to arrange for the panoramic roof panel to be removed, cleaned of any primer and re-fitted, or where necessary, replaced. A sample customer letter is attached; the letter should be adapted to the requirements of your market.

Retailers are reminded that they should not sell vehicles identified as affected by a safety recall until such time as the safety recall has been successfully completed on affected vehicles.

Please check DDW to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to undertaking any rework action. DDW will be updated to reflect only those vehicles affected. Should you require a listing of the affected vehicles in market, please contact the Land Rover Field Actions team by email at jlrcamp@jaguarlandrover.com. All overseas requests should be forwarded via the National Sales Company/Regional Office only.

At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, please ensure you check DDW and that all outstanding Field Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.

Should you need a listing of the affected vehicles in your market please contact the Field Actions Team at jlrcamp@jaguarlandrover.com. All requests from overseas markets should be made via the relevant National Sales Company/Importer.

For information purposes, a Technical Question and Answer document is attached.

Yours faithfully
