Power Steering Fluid Cooler - (4.0L/5.0L): Removal
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Specifications article.
- Remove the front radiator grille. Refer to Radiator Grille article.
- Remove the coolant expansion tank. Refer to Coolant Expansion Tank article.
- Siphon the fluid from the power steering reservoir.
- Disconnect the steering reservoir return hose.
- Position an absorbent cloth to collect fluid spillage.
- Release the clip.
- Release the LH radiator air deflector lower clip, position the deflector aside.
- Position the LH horn aside for access.
- Remove the nut.
- Position the horns to one side for access.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Using the special tool, disconnect the cooler line.
- Position an absorbent cloth to collect fluid spillage.
- Remove the cooler line separating clip.
- Remove the power steering fluid cooler.
- Release the 3 clips.

CAUTION:
Before disconnecting or removing the components, make sure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean. Plug open connections to prevent contamination.
Vehicles with 4.0L engine
Vehicles with 5.0L engine

Some fluid spillage is inevitable during this operation.

Care must be taken to prevent damage to the cooler elements during removal and installation.
