Brake Pad Bedding-In
NOTE:
This procedure is to gradually increase the temperature in the braking components without inducing thermal shock and to mate the brake pad and disc friction surfaces.
- With the vehicle stationary, pump the brake pedal until the pedal is firm.
- Drive the vehicle and make sure that the braking system operates correctly.
- Using light to medium deceleration and varying speeds, leave at least 0.5 mile (0.8 Km) between each brake application.
- Drive the vehicle, preforming 30 brake applications of 3 second intervals.
NOTE:
The following steps must be done without excessive traffic.
