Axle Housing Bushing: Removal
NOTE:
Take note of the fitted position of the bush.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the muffler assembly. MufflerRefer to
- Remove the fuel tank heat shield.
- Remove the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.
- Release the driveshaft from the rear axle drive flange.
- Remove and discard the 4 Torx bolts.
- Using a suitable jack, lower the front of the axle.
- Remove the axle front retaining bolt.
- Using the special tools, remove the axle housing bushing.
WARNING:
Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
CAUTION:
Mark the position of the driveshaft flange in relation to the drive pinion flange.
CAUTION:
To avoid damage to the joint or gaiter, do not allow the driveshaft to hang.
CAUTION:
Make sure the weight of the axle is always supported.
