Inspection And Verification
- Verify the customer concern.
- Confirm which, if any, warning lights and/or messages were displayed on the instrument cluster. For a list of messages, refer to the relevant section of the workshop information.
- Visually inspect for obvious mechanical or electrical faults.VISUAL INSPECTION
Mechanical Electrical - Transfer box
- Oil leaks
- Driveshafts
- Halfshafts
- Constant velocity (CV) joints
- Fuse(s)
- Wiring harness/electrical connectors
- Controller area network (CAN) circuits
- Instrument cluster
- Range change selection switch
- Transfer box control module
- If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
- Use the approved diagnostic system or a scan tool to retrieve any DTCs before moving onto the symptom chart or DTC index.
- Confirm that all DTCs are cleared following rectification.
